Waqjira is 19 years old and in Grade 12. He is incredibly smart and funny. He can take any old toy and create something new and better before your eyes. He likes learning English and playing futbol (soccer) and wants to be an engineer someday. 

He and his younger brother, Eliyas, came to New Hope in October of 2012 after their mother and her baby died during childbirth. Their father was trying to raise them, but was dying of HIV/AIDS. He had been praying that the Lord would find a good place for his boys to grow up before he died, when they got the good news that they would be going to New Hope Center. Leaving their father was very difficult, and they miss him very much. He comes to visit the boys once a month if he is feeling well.
